T-TMS on Education

The USA's college education may just be the best in the world. So if our colleges are doing so well, why aren't our high schools and elementary schools? The answer is simple. We force our children to go to the local public schools. What if that school is awful? If you don't have the money for a private school there isn't much you can do. Colleges on the other hand let anybody with the brains, talent and/or money in. This lets the students who are trying hard and getting good grades or those with a talent for athletics. There is still a small percentage of student who get in because of connections or money but overall this system keeps those willing to learn together. The public schools on the other hand pool their students in local schools. The students have little choice on where they go and thus may get a education deprived of aspects of their education that should have been included.

We should make it so that all students can choose where they go to school. This won't mean that the school has to take them but it will meant that they don't have to go to their local school. A voucher system would be the most affective way to do this. We would give each student a voucher that was worth a certain a mount of money. The Federal Government would supply the money and the school that the student went to would get the money that the voucher was worth. Students with a mental disability would have a voucher worth a bit more because of the extra cost of teaching them. Students with poorer families will also get a voucher worth more because of the extra cost of transportation and because of the more likely possibility that they will be harder to handle in the classroom.
