Chapter 1
“Time is such a fleeting thing,” thought Valcomist as he walked upon the ruins of the Lord of Time’s bridge. “Space and time…we dwelt between them for trillions of years and now our empire is ruined!” Valcomist gazed into the empty void at the end of the bridge and started to sing.
“The end of the bridge of time.
The end of the bridge of space.
He who dwells between them both returned to the land where I once lived.
Let this song guide me back
To Earth where I was born,
To the United States where I was raised,
To Washington State where I lived,
To Seattle where the power lies.”
The last note of his song seemed to echo in the void and suddenly stars started to appear where before there was total blackness.
“Valcomist, where are you?” The voice was as cold and dark as space—without emotion. It seemed to freeze the air.
Valcomist raised his hands and muttered a few words. A sword appeared. He raised the sword as a shadowy figure came into view on all fours and started to cereep toward him.
“Valcomist, put that toy away and talk to me as a friend.”
“After what you did to the Time Lord and the Empire? You helped destroy the Order and put reality into chaos. Mizer, you fool. Did you really think Zaler would give you a share in his power? All you’ll ever be is a servant boy,” Valcomist wailed with a mixture of fury and fear.
“Now, let’s not use such harsh language,” said Mizer. “After all we’ve been throught, I thought you’d want a share in the spoils.”
Valcomist’s eyes slid to the edge of the bridge where the black void had shifted into an image of busy streets. Valcomist leapt at Mizer. Startled, the villain let out a yelp and, jumping back, grabbed a gun out of thin air.
“I have to get back to space,” thought Valcomist desperately as he turned and raced back to the image of the busy streets.
Mizer was close behind, shooting and swearing, all his previous composure lost in fury.
Valcomist leapt into the image followed by Mizer’s venomous glare. He knew that the city and his own form was disappearing from Mizer’s view. He knew that Mizer would continue to hunt for him. And, that if the villain ever found Valcomist, he would make him pay dearly.
